The History of TADANO FAUN Crane

The FAUN company has a rich, more than a century and a half history, but the company received the name FAUN only in 1918 as an abbreviation of FAUN - Fahrzeugfabriken Ansbach und Nurnberg as a result of the merger of two small Nuremberg automobile companies.

At first, FAUN produced low-frame chassis for utility vehicles, as well as original bodies for them. Soon, the production of conventional trucks and special vehicles was established.

By the mid-thirties, FAUN had become one of the largest truck manufacturers in Germany. Starting in 1940, the company curtailed the production of civilian vehicles and until 1944, when the workshops were destroyed by American aircraft, it produced army trucks.

After the end of World War II, FAUN returned to where it started - the production of utility vehicles. And in 1948, she began production of the first post-war model, which helped the company restore its position and stand firmly on its feet. However, by the mid-sixties, due to strong competition, almost all models produced were discontinued. A change in specialization helped save the company from bankruptcy.

In addition to utility and military vehicles, FAUN concentrated on the production of heavy road pusher tractors. In addition to them, unique industrial vehicles were produced, including those for transporting slabs and ladles with molten metal and slag, low-frame chassis for transporting indivisible goods, mining dump trucks, crane chassis, and fire trucks.

However, FAUN could not escape the crisis and in 1990 was acquired by the Japanese crane manufacturer Tadano. At present, the TADANO FAUN Gmbh trademark today produces all-terrain mobile cranes with a lifting capacity of 35 to 230 tons. Another competitive advantage of the above-mentioned novelties is their ease of operation.

So, if for carrying out lifting work in cramped conditions it is necessary to set a limitation of the working area, then the crane operator does not need to perform any complex manipulations with the equipment of the machines and enter data into the on-board computer. To do this, you just need to set the crane equipment to a predetermined extreme permissible position and press one button on the on-board computer, which will automatically remember the selected position limit.

In the future, when carrying out lifting operations in a hazardous area, the on-board computer of the crane will not allow it to go beyond the selected maximum permissible position of the machine. At the same time, all new models have retained the advantages of their predecessors, significantly improving the key parameter for such equipment - load capacity.
