The History of Hitachi Excavator

Hitachi is a small Japanese town located not far from the copper mine of the same name, which Namihei Odaira, a young specialist, came to at the very beginning of the twentieth century. It was he who was destined to glorify Hitachi all over the world, making the name of the city one of the most famous brands.

In his spare time from his main job, a talented engineer, who received the position of head of the technical department in 1908, was engaged in the design of electrical devices, and, in the end, created the first electric motor in Japan.

Realizing that he was holding a product unique for his country, Namihei Odaira did not miss his chance, and in 1910 he opened his own business. The young engineer was not only prepared technologically to enter the world of business. Realizing how important a good name and a catchy trademark are to success, Odaira approached their development with all seriousness.

In 1990, the company tripled production and increased the number of mini excavators manufactured at Ostenhout to five, making Hitachi one of the world's leading manufacturers in the mini excavator segment.

1997 was marked by the 25th anniversary of the company. In the same year, the beginning of ISO certification was laid, the mini-factory became the first to receive ISO 9001, and in 2000 the entire company passed the certification.

The production of HITACHI hydraulic crawler excavators is concentrated in Japan, Fukaya, Bunkyo-ku, Koraku Kosumigaura Works (ZAXIS), at the facilities of a specialized division of HITACHI Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. The full line of excavators includes construction and mining machines.

Over a 30-year period, HITACHI Corporation has delivered more than 4,000 mining shovels of all models and modifications to the markets of the mining countries of the world. The average annual sales of excavators reached 250 machines, which accounts for 34% of world consumption.

The modern range of HITACHI hydraulic mining excavators is represented by the ZX and EX series and includes 8 models. All models are available with working equipment such as front and back shovel.

HITACHI hydraulic quarry excavators are designed to excavate and load into vehicles both blasted rocks and overburden rocks and minerals excavated directly from the massif.

HITACHI mining excavators are distinguished by high operational reliability, high productivity and environmental safety during excavation and loading operations.

The environmental friendliness of HITACHI excavators is due to minimal and low-toxic diesel engine emissions, which are safe for the environment and meet stringent standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, in the designs of mechanisms using fuels and lubricants, reliable measures are provided to prevent leakage of these fluids into the environment.

To date, the Company develops and manufactures over 20,000 items of goods, including computers, semiconductors, household appliances, power and industrial equipment, information systems and developments in the field of modern materials. Hitachi Ltd. has a staff of over 300,000 people, manages 1,047 subsidiaries, 312 of which are located abroad.
